Valentine’s Day Pictionary

I can heart-ly wait for you to see this lovey dovey list of Pictionary words and ideas.

February isn’t just a time for Cupid to draw his bow. It’s also a time for party gamers to try their hands at drawing all sorts of Valentine’s Day-inspired phrases. Yes, that’s my corny way of introducing the topic of Valentine’s Day Pictionary.

What makes Valentine’s Day such a great subject for Pictionary is that there are so many words, symbols, characters and concepts associated with the holiday. Besides the chubby little cherub with the bow and arrow, there’s candy, greeting cards, and that whole can of worms called love and romance. You’ll get the picture (see what I did there?) when you check out the Pictionary word list below.

Valentine’s Pictionary Ideas

Valentine’s Pictionary isn’t just about the word list you use – or at least, it doesn’t have to be. If you want to go the extra mile, here are a few other thoughts on adding even more Valentine’s Day flavor to your game.

Valentine’s Day props. There are all sorts of Valentine’s Day products out there, including things like pencils, pencil toppers, and stationery that you can easily incorporate into your game. Of course, it goes without saying that decorating your game venue with red and pink balloons, paper hearts, and the like also goes a long way toward getting people in a February 14 frame of mind.

Banning the heart symbol. Here’s a twist. If your players are experienced drawers and/or Pictionary players, you might want to consider banning the use of the heart symbol. The symbol is universally understood to stand for love and romance, and is useful (too useful?) for many Valentine’s Pictionary phrases.

Artsy Valentine’s Day prizes. Consider having some nominal prizes that tie into both Valentine’s Day and the artistic nature of Pictionary. If you’re using some of the Valentine’s Day props mentioned above, you could simply award those to the winners.
